9. Highlights from past year:

MG volunteers had a booth at Cecil Co  4-H day at Kilby Cream. A day of educating the public on starting your garden. They offered a seed project and handed out coloring books, and garden leaflets for all ages.

At the Cecil Co libraries throughout the county they offered hands on activities on making terrariums, water resources games, how to use herbs, and making holiday wreaths. Our activities there have resulted in gaining MG volunteers and more 4-H students as well.

Canal Days is a large street fest in June which attracts thousands of citizens. Our plant clinic and info booth is well attended and having a plant sale is a plus. Offering plant related handouts for all ages is popular.

Our MG's offered plant samples to the 4-H horticulture team to study and be tested on.
One member, along with Eileen Boyle and Mike Ensor traveled with the state team to Nebraska to visit the Arbor Day Foundation and to train /chaperone the team to a 1st place National win. That makes Maryland first place winners three yrs in a row!

An open house at the Woodlawn site attracted over 80 visitors who wanted to learn about our wildlife park. Members gave demonstrations on composting, planting procedures, rain barrels, and tree identification. Invited guests, Dr Dewey Caron of the University of Delaware offered a bee demo and Rupert Rosetti a water hydrologist spoke on water quality in the park. Our native plant sale was held as well.

The Cecil County Fair in July was a opportunity to man a booth for 9 days. Over 650 facts sheets were picked up, and MGs were available to answer questions and dispense advice.
