Ask a Master Gardener

Bring your questions, plant materials or mystery insect to one of the Montgomery County Plant Clinics staffed by Maryland Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners. They have had training in soil and plant science, plant identification, proper use of pesticides and mulch, plant diseases and pest management.

If you wish to bring a plant sample to one of our plant clinics, please read this page, which contains directions for taking a plant sample.

What can Master Gardeners do for you?

Help you select and care for annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees.
Determine if you need to test your soil.
Provide you with information on lawn care.
Identify weeds, insects and plant diseases.
Teach you how to use pesticides, mulch and compost.
Guide you in pruning your trees and shrubs.
Provide you with options for managing wildlife.
Teach you how to search the Internet to get answers to your questions.
Provide you with gardening fact sheets.
Help you submit a plant sample for diagnosis.
