Special Work Action Teams

Master Gardeners can send an individual to your organization at no cost to provide your members with information about sustainable and ecologically sound gardening practices and answer your horticultural questions. Our Special Work Action Teams (SWAT) can visit your community garden, mulch sale, school garden or other activity and help you grow a better and more beautiful garden.

Here are some examples of what SWAT can do for you:

•       Provide an information table at your community or organization’s event, such as Earth Day, Arbor Day, Rockville Day, Poolesville Day, Street festivals or Green Awareness events.

•       Provide MGs at your plant sale, mulch sale or similar events to answer questions and hand out free fact sheets on a variety of gardening topics and good mulching practices.

•       Provide on-site MG expertise at your school, senior center, garden club, or community garden when parents, seniors, and gardeners are having a work day.

•       Provide special presentations designed for your science or outdoor ed curriculum at the elementary or middle school level.

•     Provide a mini plant clinic to your organization where you can bring your plant sample and have our MGs diagnose your plant pest or disease problem.
