We have a booth at the Montgomery County Fair, which will next be held in August 2008.

In early March 2007, a few of the Master Gardeners Fairgrounds Team began preparing for the development of two new vegetable beds in anticipation of the 59th Annual Montgomery County Fair. (below)

However at the request of the Agricultural Center a new corner was selected for a garden.

The Master Gardeners seized the opportunity to design and develop a new Bay Friendly Teaching Garden.  You can learn more about our site at the Fairgrounds here.

You can find additional information about the Fair, including directions at their website.

The Cooperative Extension offers Close Encounters with Agriculture each year for three weeks in March and April. It is a program to teach the County’s fourth grade students about nutrition, the environment, and where their food comes from.  Master Gardeners provide assistance for this major event held at the Agricultural History Farm Park.

Another annual event is the Fall Harvest Festival. The next Harvest Festival will be in October 2008.  Master Gardeners co-sponsor the Harvest Festival.  The Harvest Festival provides an educational and recreational celebration of Maryland’s rich agricultural heritage.
